We are thrilled to share some exciting news: Cultivate Food Rescue has officially reached a huge milestone — 10 million pounds of food rescued since our founding in 2016!
That’s the equivalent of more than 8 million meals for food-insecure neighbors across Elkhart, Marshall, and St. Joseph Counties.
This achievement wouldn’t be possible without the growth we’ve experienced over the past year. Our new 22,000-square-foot cold storage facility in South Bend, along with our volunteer meal packaging facility in Elkhart, has dramatically increased our capacity to recover and distribute nutritious food. What once took nearly seven years, we can now accomplish in less than a year.
And this is only the beginning. When both facilities are operating at full strength, Cultivate will have the ability to provide $47 million worth of meals annually — food that would otherwise go to waste.
Most importantly, this milestone belongs to everyone who makes our mission possible: businesses that choose donation over disposal, volunteers who dedicate their time, pantries and schools that distribute meals, generous donors, and our amazing staff.
We’re proud to celebrate this moment with you — and we’re grateful for the recognition in ABC57’s recent coverage
