Cultivate thanks the Community Foundation of Elkhart County for their extremely generous gift of $85,000 to help us expand into our new building. Thanks to their incredible contribution, along with other supporters, work began on the new facility at the beginning of October.
Our search for a new building began last year, as we grew out of our freezer and production space and wanted to increase our capacity to serve the hungry in St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall Counties. By the end of this year, we should be ready to move into our new space!
The grant from the Community Foundation of Elkhart County is part of making it possible to redo plumbing and concrete floors, add a handicap access ramp out front, frame new rooms such as a production kitchen and a teaching kitchen, and create a new freezer that is nearly six times the size of what we are working with right now.
Important pieces of equipment are still needed. For information on how you can help, contact Todd Zeltwanger at toddz@cultivatefoodrescue.com.
Live updates from Randy, General Manager and Co-Founder, about progress on the building are posted on Facebook every week, so be sure to “like” our page so you can follow along!
