Expanded Reach Since Spring Pilot
Last spring, Cultivate Food Rescue created a pilot program that provided insulated backpacks with frozen meals to 120 food-insecure elementary students. And now, we are providing nutritious weekend meals to 400 elementary students this school year!
The program kicked off at the end of September for most partner schools. We are currently working with 13 local schools across St. Joseph, Elkhart, and Marshall Counties. Deb Martin, Principal of Madison STEAM Academy in South Bend, said, “Our students are very excited that the Cultivate Backpack Program is starting back up… We are very appreciative of all the sponsors and individuals that have contributed to this much-needed cause!”
Thanks to the support of generous individuals, corporations, and foundations, 200 of the 400 students receiving backpacks and meals each weekend are sponsored. We are so grateful to be halfway there to bringing food security and balanced nutrition to children who don’t have enough to eat on the weekends. And we need your help to make it the rest of the way! It takes $35 per month, or $420 per year, to sponsor one student. Could you help? Donate Now!
Do You Have or Work for a Business Who Would Like to Get Involved?
Corporate sponsors are welcome to sponsor students too! Sponsorship levels of 10, 25, 50, or 100 backpacks are available. Benefits include your logo on our truck, mentions on social media and print advertising, and spots at our annual Taste of Hope and Golf Outing events.
